Prayer for Parish

Christ Jesus,

You who love us and deepen in us the knowledge of Your name and Your love, open all doors and make known the way of salvation, You call us to take time and to be with You in prayer, to draw close to You and to seek Your Will.

You desire to purify our hearts and to lead us to repentance draw us together as a community and help us to open our hearts to appreciate the gift of each other.

Bless our Parish Community and all those we love. May your grace lead us to a new Pentecost in our lives to go and proclaim the Good News to all and a deeper desire to live the mission of the Church.

AMEN

Please come to our Morning Only Advent Retreat, which will be lead by Fr Ronan Murphy from Ireland.

DATES: 05 – 09 DECEMBER

Daily Reconciliation @ 8.30am

Mass with a talk @ 9.00am followed by Benediction with the Blessed Sacrament.

All welcome! :-)

Thank you to our wonderful Parish Jubilee Committee, Social Committee, choir, florists, altar servers, acolytes, cleaners and everyone who helped in any way to make the celebrations for our Parish 50th Anniversary so successful. We are blessed to have such dedicated and hardworking parishioners! :-)

All Saints Day was instituted to honour all the saints, known and unknown, and, according to Pope Urban IV(c.1195-1264), to make up for any deficiencies in the faithful’s celebration of saints’ feast days during the year.

All Souls Day commemorates the faithful   departed, those baptized Christians believed to be in purgatory. Purgatory is ‘the state of those who die in God’s friendship, assured of their eternal salvation, but who still have need of purification to enter into the happiness of heaven’. The day purposely follows All Saints Day in order to shift the focus from those in heaven to those in purgatory.

It is good to know that a plenary indulgence may be gained for the dead, once only, by visiting a church on Wednesday 2nd November and praying the Lord’s Prayer and the Creed. Three conditions are required  for gaining the indulgence: sacramental confession (if you need to reconciled with God), Holy Communion and prayer for the Pope’s intentions. We encourage you to visit cemetery too.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let  perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.  Amen.
