Welcome to our Parish website...

There are two churches, which belong to our Parish: St Lawrence & Mary Immaculate in Balcatta and St Theresa in Gwelup (with Mt La Verna Retirement Village). There is also St Lawrence Primary School in Balcatta. For children who do not attend a Catholic school, we offer a comprehensive Religious Education Program. Incorporated into this program are the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. We are one Christian Family!

This site was created not only for the benefit of our parishioners but also for anyone who would be interested in our activities. If you would like to become a catholic or renew your catholic faith, we would love to hear from you ASAP! You are ALWAYS welcome in our community! You can even become a member of one of many groups existing in our parish or you can simply choose to be part of the parish as whole.

Jesus saved us as a community and He wants us to worship Him as a community (not only as individuals). So, come and see, experience God’s mercy, compassion and Christian love among us!

Prayer for Parish

Christ Jesus,

You who love us and deepen in us the knowledge of Your name and Your love, open all doors and make known the way of salvation, You call us to take time and to be with You in prayer, to draw close to You and to seek Your Will.

You desire to purify our hearts and to lead us to repentance draw us together as a community and help us to open our hearts to appreciate the gift of each other.

Bless our Parish Community and all those we love. May your grace lead us to a new Pentecost in our lives to go and proclaim the Good News to all and a deeper desire to live the mission of the Church.

AMEN

Year of Grace

Jesus,
as I contemplate your face,
let me experience your great love for me.

Reveal your saving grace
and give me a grateful heart.

Heal me of my weaknesses and sin
and fill me with compassion
for others.

Gift me with the wisdom of the Spirit
and encourage me to be
a faithful witness to the Gospel.

Holy Thursday celebrates both the institution by Christ of the Eucharist and of the Holy Orders (the sacerdotal priesthood as distinct from the "priesthood of all believers").

The Sacrament of the Holy Orders includes bishops, priests and deacons. In the phrase "Holy Orders", the word "holy" means "set apart for some purpose." In this case the purpose is the ministry in the Body of Christ - the One, Holy and Apostolic Catholic Church.

Please pray for your priests and for new vocations to the priesthood.

Saturday

Our parish priests will be very happy to officiate your Wedding!
First, please call our office (08 9344 7066) and book the date and time of your Ceremony. Attend the Marriage Preparation Course organised by the Archdiocese of Perth (Newman Siena Centre, 33 Williamstown Road, Doubleview, book on-line: www.cmfs.org.au), then contact our office to arrange a few meetings with one of our priests. Your first meeting with one of them should occur at least 6 months prior to your wedding. He will guide you through paperwork, theology of the sacrament of marriage and the ceremony. If you wish to have a priest other than one of our priests, he would be most welcome. You will need to make the necessary arrangements with him.

Ps. Before you see a priest, please get your birth certificate* and a copy of the baptismal certificate (from the parish you were baptised at). Also, if your previous marriage has been annulled, the celebrant must sight the annulment papers.
